On Thursday evening, starting at 5pm, we will have a math and science night here at East Yancey. We will be dissecting squids and having fun with math.

Good evening, this is Mr. Byland with several announcements from East Yancey Middle School,
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, we look forward to seeing you by 7:50 on Monday morning.
Final grades for the second nine weeks will be viewable on the Infinite Campus Parent app as of Friday. If you would like a printed report card, please have your child stop by the office on Friday.
Please remember that if your child is going home with someone other than you, we need a note from both the parent that is sending the child and the parent that is receiving the child. This is for safety and to make sure everyone involved knows what’s going on.
On January 15th, starting at 5pm, we will have a math and science title one night here at East Yancey. We will be dissecting squids and having fun with math. Please add that to your calendar to attend. We will be sending out a sign up form shortly for all families to sign up so we know how many squids to have ready.
The next DC trip deposit is due on January 16th.

Due to the Cold Weather Advisory and dangerous wind chills, Yancey County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay on Monday, December 15, 2025. Buses will not run on icy roads.
The delay will give us time to make sure all of our buses and mechanical systems are working properly on our school campuses.

Our band concert is at 6:30 on Thursday at the High School. On Friday, we will have our annual Winter Dance from three until five pm. Cost of admission is $5. Friday evening, we will also celebrate our 6th graders for winning the penny wars.
