Good evening 8th grade parents, we are on our way back. We will arrive at 8:10 at East Yancey. To pick up your child, you will need to enter the lower gate on 19. The upper gate on George’s Fork will be closed.

Good evening, this is Mr. Byland with several announcements from East Yancey Middle School, The dental clinic will be at EY on Monday. We will also have spring pictures on Monday Yearbooks are for sale for $40. Please send your child to Mrs. Patti to get a form if you need one. The YRBS survey that is given annually will be given on Tuesday. If you would like to opt out your child from the survey, call the front office and we will do so. From our sports section: Baseball at home on Monday for a double header and at home for the first round of the tournament on Wednesday. Softball is away on Wednesday. Due to the melting snow, below freezing temperatures and sections of icy roadways, Yancey County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay on Wednesday,
March 18, 2026.

Good evening, this is Mr Byland with a quick question DC trip update. We WILL still be going on the trip tomorrow despite the remote day! Buses load at 8am.

Due to the Winter Weather Advisory of snow showers, black ice and freezing temperatures all day tomorrow, Yancey County Schools will have a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Our principals and teachers will work with students and families if their WiFi is not in service at home due to the weather.

Students - check your school email, Google Classroom accounts or ClassDoJo for any additional information your teacher may provide. Middle and high school assignments may also be sent out electronically. Students please log on with your teachers at 10:00 a.m.

Please drive safely tomorrow.

Students going on the DC trip will need to be at EY at 8am regardless of any other school related announcements. If a change needs to be made, Mr. Byland will send out updated times, but that is not expected.

Due to the forecasted sleet and snow, Yancey County Schools will dismiss early today, Monday, March 16, 2026.

Possible sleet, snow accumulation, high winds and dropping temperatures are forecasted for this afternoon and evening. Please travel with caution.

Our students will be dismissed at the following times today:
Elementary Schools 12:30 p.m.
High School 12:45 p.m.
Middle Schools 1:00 p.m.

So once again, all YCS students will be dismissed early today.
Stay safe, be careful driving and have a great afternoon!

Please review the recommended list of things to pack. Students will need to be dropped off at 6am. Chaperones will need to park in the open teacher parking lot on the hill. Yearbooks are for sale for $40. Please send your child to Mrs. Patti to get a form if you need one. Spring pictures will be on March 23rd. The dental clinic will also be here that day. We will have our student volleyball tournament on Monday. Students can bring money for concessions. The exhibition highlights the creativity and artistic efforts of young artists in the community and offers them the opportunity to have their work displayed in a professional gallery setting.
