Attention East Yancey 6th and 7th grade parents! We are going on a field trip to the North Carolina zoo in Asheboro, NC, on Wednesday, October 9th. This will be a great opportunity to see animals up close and connect what we’re learning in science to the real world. We’ll leave school at 8 a.m. and return around 7:00–7:30 p.m. Permission slips and money are due this Friday, September 26th. We will not be accepting permission slips money after Friday. On the day of the trip students will need to bring a lunch from home or request one from school. Cost is $8 for transportation and a bus snack for the ride home. Good evening, this is Mr. Byland with some updates for the week from East Yancey.
The first DC trip deposit of 125 dollars is due on September 26th. This will establish who will be going on the trip and we will not add students after this day.
Our PTO meeting will be September 25th at 5pm.
From our sports section:
We are adding a Panther Student Section on Tuesday for soccer and Sept 22 for volleyball. Students will be able to pay $5, stay after school then go to the game that evening. Cost includes a slice of pizza, drink, and admission to the game.
Volleyball is at home on Monday and at Mitchel on Wednesday. Soccer is at home on Tuesday and it is 8th grade night.

Good evening 8th grade parents, students will need to be dropped off no later than 7:30 on Friday for the field trip. They need sunscreen, hats, and money for anything extra they wish to buy. We plan to open the doors for 8th graders at the school by 7:10.

Good evening, this is Mr. Byland with some updates for the week from East Yancey.
On Wednesday, we will kick off our chocolate sale for this year with students. Students will bring home a form for you to fill out and send back with them.
It is very important that we have two rows of cars in the morning and evening drop off lines. I will be outside Monday helping everyone get use to this process. It helps keep cars out of the main highway and increases safety.
7th graders need their vaccines before September 17th as required by North Carolina.
There will be a DC Trip interest meeting on Tuesday at 5pm for any student interested in going.

We were able to fix our air conditioning today, which is a good thing, however, we are going to postpone the back to school dance that was scheduled for tomorrow in case there is any further need for work on the system.
